DKT has partnered with hundreds of local
Non-Government Organizations and public institutions nationwide in community and
grassroots programming designed to have an impact on the lives of high-risk and
low-income groups. Through its unique Support Fund, DKT channels grants
for special programming and develops targeted educational materials. DKT’s
Revolving Fund enables community groups to access and distribute contraceptives
and condoms, thereby reducing risky behavior.
Past examples of activities include:
- Distribution of 50.000 safe sex packages (condoms, comic books, stickers)
to truck drivers passing through the toll booths of Surabaya
- Training to more than 500 commercial sex workers on condom negotiation
with their clients in Medan and Jakarta
- Development of 40 high-profile “Condom Kiosks” where condoms were available
for sale in Manado, Surabaya, Makasar and Medan
- Development of HIV counselling and testing brochures to educate youth in
Jogjakarta
- Financial support to more that 100 midwife organizations during their monthly
meetings
- Partnership with BKKBN offices in Lombok and North Sumatra to reach rural
communities with needed family planning products
