As Indonesia grapples with a growing HIV epidemic, DKT has been
a leader in the area of condoms education and programming. DKT
has effectively opened up new outlets where condoms were previously
unavailable, increased condom use in high-risk situations, and expanded
the overall condom market.
However, much remains to be done. DKT continues to work in a number
of important areas:
- 100% Condom Use
Collaborating with government, NGOs, and community leaders on 100% condom use
in red-light districts by ensuring condom availability, designing incentive
programs to promote condom use, and advocating with policy makers to support
such programming
- High Risk Groups
Focusing on those groups acknowledged to be at-risk such as commercial sex
workers, injecting drug users, men who have sex with men, and transport
workers
- Young Adults
Priotizing the health of future generations through targeted media campaigns,
youth activities, and appropriate condom education
- Condom Advocacy
Working together with government and other public interest groups to reduce
the stigma surrounding condoms and to enhance the environment in which condom
programming can succeed
- ABCs
Promoting the ABCs of HIV prevention: Abstinence, Be Faithful, and Correct
Condom Use
